Lise Morrison


Lise Morrison is currently studying towards a Master of Music (Composition) at Stellenbosch University under the supervision of Prof Hans Roosenschoon. After completing a BComm degree in 2010 at SU, she received her BMus at the same institution in 2013.

Lise regularly arranges and writes music and/or acts as musical director for various collaborative projects. Vagina Dentata – a Kabarett (directed by Christiaan Olwagen) received five Kanna nominations and two KykNet Fiestas nominations – for Best Musical Production (amongst others).

Three of her works were performed as part of the student composers collective KOMPOS in Stellenbosch – two orchestral works (‘L’ and ‘Pocket Symphony’) and a work for string quartet and piano (‘Six Years’).  Lise was also co-convenor of the New Music Forum at the Stellenbosch Conservatorium in 2013 and co-presented a series of composition workshops for NewMusicSA. Lise also co-founded the Music Workshop Programme, a community music project at Timberlea farm in 2013, and continued to facilitate the project in 2014.

Lise received SAMRO bursaries for composition studies in 2013 and 2014 and also received the Hans Roosenschoon Music Foundation Postgraduate Scholarship in 2013.

She was accepted to the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, The Netherlands to further her study in composition.
